Newbie, looking for advice

Hello, I am new to the site. I joined as I am desperately looking to buy a hang type instrument (get lessons of possible) and I'm looking for some advice. I have been in contact with Vadjraghanta and I wonder if anyone on here has dealt with them in the past? I'm considering buying one of their instruments. How was their customer service? Are their instruments as good as they look on their webpage. It is an awful lot of money for me to spend but I so desperately want an instrument and any info you could offer me would be great. Many thanks Claire x Om

Re: Newbie, looking for advice

Hi Claire.  Just a quick glance are their facebook page shows me that their instrument is not really a hang type (handpan) instrument.  It's a tongue drum.  They are a lot cheaper than a handpan, but not usually as nice sounding, or as loud.

I would ask to be directed to some video samples of how their tongue drums sound.  You may or may not like the sound.  Better to hear before you buy.

Their instruments are steel tongue drums and are not like the Hang. Not that that is a bad thig, they just don't sound quite as good or diverse in my opinion.

I think you're better off saving your $$$$ and getting a proper hang drum.

Cheers,
