tuning a tongue drum, which temperament

Hello,

I build tongue drums and i am experimenting with different tunings.
When setting the tuner you can choose a temperament.

I wonder what temperament other builders use? equal tempered scale, just scale, or Pythagorean, mean tone.

Also conscious what handpan builders use.

Re: tuning a tongue drum, which temperament

Hey, Lightweaver77.

Not being a builder of any kind, I'm unable to offer much insight here.  Though, a Google around led me to believe that Equal Temperament appears to be the norm.

In addition, it appears that the majority of PANArt Hang were tuned to equal temperament, with exceptions being the following sound-models: Slendro, Overtone Scale, Sadjagrama, Pelog, Madhyama-grama (though I couldn't tell you to what they were tuned).

Perhaps you could try asking over at the Hank Drum Collective.  I suspect that they could furnish you with better answers than I.  Though if anybody passing through has any insights to share with Lightweaver77 on this matter, please feel free to share them. :)
